About Us

The Office of the Prime Minister holds a significant Government portfolio, it administers four key program areas that cover a broad range of sectors which are critical to Guyana’s development:

  •  Disaster Preparedness, Response and Management
  • Power Generation
  • Telecommunication and Innovation
  • Government Information and Communication Services

The mandate of each of these programs concomitantly work together to bring betterment to the lives of all Guyanese through awareness, innovation, energy and information, and collectively equip our people to actively participate in the country’s development.

Disaster Preparedness and Management

As Guyana continues to develop and expand, the Civil Defense Commission (CDC) will be focusing heavily on institutional strengthening to lead and coordinate disaster risk management across Guyana in an effective way. Among the advancements are expansion to the CDC’s facilities, as well as human resource capacity building and role strengthening, and greater integration of technology into the organization’s systems for preparedness, emergency operations, logistics including supply chain management, financing, and monitoring and evaluation.

Power Generation

The Government of Guyana through the Office of the Prime Minister oversees the massive potential that energy holds for an economic boom in Guyana. Government intends to achieve the provision of affordable, stable and reliable energy throughout our country.

Telecommunications and Innovation

The importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), particularly as it relates to its use as a tool of economic and social empowerment, cannot be overemphasized. Investment in ICTs have continually increased globally, causing a massive shift in the global economy.

Government Information and Communication Services

Globally, increased access to technology has resulted in a growing demand from the public for accountability and transparency from their governments. Citizens are now more empowered and continue to call on administrations to remain transparent and keep them informed. The Government of Guyana remains committed to this cause and provisions under the Government Information and Communications Services Program speak volumes regarding that commitment.
